Find Republic County Released Inmates

A search for Republic County released inmates begins by identifying the last agency that held the person. Republic County released inmates may have left local custody, entered state custody, or moved to another agency while a case continued. The Republic County released inmate search therefore combines the county release record with corrections, court, and notification sources. To search for Republic County released inmates, first separate a true community release from a transfer. Then match the person carefully and confirm the event with the office that created the record.

Republic County Release Meanings

A Republic County release is an event tied to a person, a case, an agency, a time, and legal authority. A person can leave the Republic County Jail on bond, after serving a local term, through dismissal or another court order, or under probation. Yet leaving that building does not always mean freedom. The sheriff may transfer a person to another county, the Kansas Department of Corrections, federal custody, or immigration custody. The next agency then becomes the right source.

Physical release also differs from final discharge. Parole, conditional release, postrelease supervision, and probation let someone live outside a locked facility while legal control continues. Discharge means the obligation administered by that corrections system has ended. The sheriff’s record is strongest for a local departure. KASPER, the Kansas corrections search, is stronger for a KDOC status. A court order explains why a release was authorized, while the jail calendar states when staff processed it.

Key release terms

Bond permits release while a case continues. Probation is court-ordered community supervision. Parole is supervised release for an eligible prison sentence. Discharge ends the tracked correctional obligation. Time served means the custodial term has been satisfied. A detainer asks one agency to hold or transfer a person for another authority.

Republic County Release Paths

The correct record depends on what happened after local custody ended. Republic County has one confirmed local detention facility, the Republic County Jail. Its calendar can distinguish liberation from a transfer when the entry identifies the time and authority. The following paths should not be merged into one generic “released” label.

Departure typeWhat it meansBest next source
Bond or court releasePhysical custody ends while the case may continue.Sheriff calendar and court bond order
Time servedThe local custodial term is complete.Calendar, judgment, and sentence calculation
ProbationThe person is in the community under a court’s terms.District court and supervising agency
Transfer to KDOCCounty custody ends, but state custody begins.Calendar first, then KASPER after intake
Other transfer or holdAnother county, federal agency, or immigration authority may take custody.Receiving agency and transfer authority
Final dischargeThe relevant correctional sentence or supervision has ended.Exact KASPER status or agency record

A dismissal on one case may not end another hold. Likewise, parole from a state prison is not a Republic County Jail release. Match each event to the agency that controlled the person at that stage.

Republic County Release Record Fields

Kansas law gives local searchers unusually precise language. K.S.A. 19-1904 requires a sheriff’s prisoner calendar with commitment details and the time and authority for discharge or liberation. Republic County does not publish that calendar as an online roster. Request its public portion by the person’s full name and an approximate date range.

FieldWhat it shows
Name and place of abodeThe person identified in the statutory calendar.
Commitment timeWhen local custody began.
Cause and authorityWhy and under whose order the person was committed.
DescriptionThe identifying description required by the statute.
Discharge or liberation timeWhen the jail processed the departure.
Authority for liberationThe order or legal basis for release.
Receiving agency, if keptWhere the person went after a transfer.
Release code or photo, if keptModern jail fields that may exist but are not guaranteed calendar fields.

The last two rows should be requested as records the sheriff may maintain. They are not promised by the calendar statute. A court case adds bond orders, judgment, sentence, probation, dismissal, revocation, and later termination entries. It may explain legal authority but not the exact minute jail staff completed release.

Request Republic County Release Records

Send a focused Kansas Open Records Act request to the Republic County Sheriff’s Department, 1815 M Street, Belleville, KS 66935, or use the postal listing P.O. Box 246. The office phone is 785-527-5658 and fax is 785-527-2717. Listed office hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No dedicated request form, records email, fixed fee schedule, or published retention period was found.

  1. Give the person’s full name and a narrow booking or release date range.
  2. Ask for the public prisoner-calendar and related booking/release entry.
  3. Name the commitment time, discharge or liberation time, and authority sought.
  4. Ask for any transfer code, its definition, and receiving agency if maintained.
  5. Request electronic copies and a cost estimate before chargeable work begins.
  6. Ask that any denial or redaction identify its statutory basis.

K.S.A. 45-218 calls for action as soon as possible. If access is not immediate, the agency must explain the delay and state the earliest availability by the end of the third business day. That is a response rule, not a promise of full production in three days. K.S.A. 45-219 permits reasonable actual-cost fees and advance payment. Ask for an estimate because Republic County posts no per-page rate.

Online absence does not mean no record exists. The sheriff may keep the calendar or booking entry in a jail system or archive. Juvenile, medical, victim, investigative, security, and identifying material may be withheld. An agency also need not create a new analysis that it does not maintain.

Kansas Law on Republic Releases

The Kansas Open Records Act starts with a presumption of access unless another law permits or requires closure. K.S.A. 45-220 covers request procedures, while K.S.A. 45-221 lists exceptions. For adult corrections records, K.S.A. 45-221(a)(29) identifies certain public fields, including specified identity, sentence, parole-eligibility, custody or supervision, facility or parole-office, and photograph information. It does not open an entire correctional file.

Expungement changes public access. K.S.A. 21-6614 governs qualifying adult convictions, and K.S.A. 22-2410 covers qualifying arrest records. Eligibility and waiting periods depend on the case. A blank public result may therefore mean “not publicly accessible.” It does not prove that no custody or release event occurred, nor does expungement physically erase every independent record or prior lawful copy.

Note: Ask for an exact record, not a conclusion the agency would have to create from several files.

Republic County Jail Release Scale

Sheriff David Cox’s year-end report, recorded in Republic County’s January 2023 commission minutes, said the facility held 226 inmates during 2022. This is the strongest official workload figure found. Its limits matter. The number was not described as unique people, bookings, releases, or average daily population. It cannot support an average stay or annual release estimate.

Use it only as evidence that the small local facility handled a meaningful flow of custody during that year. For a named person, the sheriff’s calendar remains far more useful than a broad total. A count cannot say who left, when the event occurred, whether it was release or transfer, or what authority controlled it.

Find Republic County Released Inmates

Start with the last known custodian. Republic County has no official online jail roster, booking archive, 24-hour list, or 72-hour list. A missing web result is therefore not evidence of release. The official sheriff page points people to Kansas VINE and telephone contact instead.

  1. For a current local custody question, call Republic County Dispatch at 785-527-5655.
  2. Search Kansas VINE, confirm Republic County is the reporting agency, and note the event time.
  3. Request the sheriff’s calendar entry for the exact discharge or transfer authority.
  4. Search the Republic County court case for bond, dismissal, sentence, probation, or commitment orders.
  5. If the person entered state custody, search KASPER after allowing for intake lag.
  6. Use BOP, ICE, or the responsible federal court only when a federal or immigration transfer is documented.
Why is the name gone? Leaving one agency’s custody can mean community release, transfer, another hold, escape, or death. Only the departure entry resolves that question.

For a same-day inquiry, the Republic County 24-Hour Release List guide explains the local fallback when no feed exists. Obtain the calendar entry when exact timing or authority matters.

Correct Republic County KASPER Records

KASPER provides a direct accuracy channel at kdoc_pub@ks.gov. When a former state prisoner’s status, location, or photo information appears stale, record the page and access date, then ask KDOC to review it. Do not infer that an old image proves a new custody event. KASPER also warns that an image date may reflect when the database received the image, not when the photograph was taken.

A parole-office location can mean the person left prison but remains supervised. “Discharged” can support a final-discharge inquiry, while “Deceased” and “Discharged-Deceased” must not be called community release. If the issue involves a missing official date or more detail than the public result supplies, KDOC Records Division is the next source.

Courts Verify Republic County Releases

Local court routing is crucial because two court systems answer different questions. Republic County District Court in the Twelfth Judicial District handles Kansas criminal cases. The Kansas District Court Public Access Portal can show available dockets, with the local clerk as the source for an official register, filed order, or older record. Search the case in date order for bond, dismissal, judgment, jail credit, probation, revocation, KDOC commitment, and discharge entries.

Belleville Municipal Court handles city-code and ordinance matters, including certain misdemeanors. Its disposition may explain authority in a city case. Neither court system replaces the sheriff’s calendar. A signed order authorizes release; the calendar records when jail staff acted. If a KDOC commitment appears, that is transfer to state custody, not community release.

Transportation After Republic County Release

Republic County’s official site advertises County Transportation at 785-527-2235, including on the sheriff page. No reviewed official page promises jail pickup, a route from the sheriff’s office area, set fares, or service hours. A released person or family member may call and ask whether a trip can be arranged, but should not assume service is available.

Confirm the actual release first. Timing may change because of court paperwork, another hold, or a transfer. The jail has not published release-processing hours or an exit procedure, so transportation plans should remain flexible until the responsible office verifies the event.

Republic County Jail Facility Proposal

Republic County placed a special question before voters on November 4, 2025. It concerned authority for up to $17.86 million to construct and equip a new public-safety and law-enforcement facility at 1192 Bell Lane. That official material documents a proposal. It does not show that a replacement jail was completed or opened.

Until a later operational source establishes a change, the Republic County Jail remains the working facility for release research. Do not direct a record request or pickup plan to the proposed site. Use the sheriff’s published contact at 1815 M Street and confirm any future facility move with the county.

Republic Release Alerts and Transfers

VINELink offers Kansas person searches and custody-change alerts. Republic County’s sheriff page endorses Kansas VINE and lists 866-574-8463. Search the exact person, ensure the result names the right reporting agency, and note the status and event time. Alerts may arrive by methods offered in the live record. They are prompts to verify, not certified release records.

The national entry screen shows the route into participating state systems. Open the VINELink source before selecting Kansas.

VINELink entry used to reach Kansas custody notifications for Republic County

This route is meant for a specific person and agency. A no-result response can reflect coverage, spelling, transfer, or lag, so it does not certify release.

Federal and immigration paths apply only when the record points there. The BOP Inmate Locator covers federal prisoners from 1982 forward and may show “Released” or “Not in BOP Custody” with a release date. That says only that BOP custody ended. An ICE transfer should be checked in the ICE detainee locator and then with ERO if needed. A no-result response is not a release certificate. USMS has no comparable public name-search release list.

Republic Release and Custody Sources

Use the system that matches the last confirmed custody. Mixing systems causes the most common errors, especially when a county departure was actually a state or federal transfer.

Last known custodyBest first checkWhat confirms the event
Republic County JailDispatch and Kansas VINESheriff calendar plus court authority
Kansas prison or KDOC programKASPERExact status/date and KDOC record if needed
Federal BOPBOP Inmate LocatorBOP result and direct follow-up
ICE custodyICE locator and ERODirect ICE confirmation or release document
Republic County court caseDistrict portal or clerkDocket and filed order, not processing time

For someone still held locally, dispatch answers the current-custody question. For someone released locally, request the calendar’s discharge or liberation entry. For a state prisoner, read the exact KASPER status. Each source has a boundary.

Republic County Release Facility

The Republic County Jail is the only confirmed detention facility in the county. The Republic County Sheriff’s Department operates it. A person may leave for the community under bond, sentence, probation, dismissal, or another court authority. The same person may instead transfer to KDOC or another custodian.

Belleville Police is an arresting agency, but its official page does not establish a separate city jail. Track an arrest through the actual custodian and the correct court. No state prison, federal prison, or dedicated ICE detention site was found within Republic County, though an outside transfer remains possible.
